Is Continental Airlines really the best airline to travel on?

I always see the Continental Airline commercials on TV, and they are always bragging about their airline. I never hear any of the other airlines gragging. Does Continental Airlines does anything different then the other airlines, and why do they always bragg an the other airlines don't? Just curious.

There was a survey done in a 2006 U.S. Consumer Report. According to the statistics, Jet Blue was the BEST airline to travel, following Air New Zealand and Alaska Airlines.

Continental Airlines ranked around 5th place for best airline to travel on with American Airlines, United, and Southwest Airlines at the bottom of the list.

However, research shows most people do not typically look for the "airline" when traveling, particularly if its not international. Most passengers look for the best affordable rates and go from there.

continental is the best. regardless of size, fleet or whatever it may be, continental focuses on its clientel and thats why it is so successful! hands down! http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20070930112619AAM4NtW&kid=DbNYIkjtFUVdwxA6FDPH&s=comm&date=2008-06-22+12%3A26%3A13&.crumb=

Continental still gives you food. The other airlines don't. When I fly out of Newark, they're quite good. But their other big hub in Houston is not as convenient for me. Their services to Europe and South America are good. But not much of a presence in Asia. I don't fly them a lot, yet recently on two different flights (different routes) the planes were so new there was still the "new plane smell". A spanking new fresh cabin is very nice.

Of major domestic US airlines, Continental really is the best in my opinion.

And of course Continental's commercials are going to say they're good, and they are going to brag about themselves. Why would an airline pay for TV commercials and say negative things about themselves? The whole POINT of advertising is to make an airline (or whatever the company is) seem good. So you shouldn't only look at that. I've seen commercials for United Airlines, and they say that they're a good airline, but they're really not. So don't take the commercials seriously. My guess is that you live in or near a city that Continental has a large presence at (near one of their hubs) so that is why they advertise more heavily and you only see their commercials. Granted I literally watch almost no TV (less than an hour a week), but I don't ever recall seeing a Continental Airlines commercial.

That said, however, Continental has the best customer service of any major US airline, in my opinion, and is one of the best in the world. I fly almost 100 times a year and I love Continental.

I have found that you can get the best ticket PRICES on Continental...you can use their website...but even, better, CALL them...you can often get a better price and schedule than on the web. It will definetly be better than going thru one of the on-line ticket services.

Its not "the best" but its great if your traveling to other countries. Its very convinient and they serve very good meals, and have a good entertainment selection.

I don't think there really is a better airline than the next one. It really depends on the flight crew and team that is helping the flight out. It also depends on your tolerance for last minute problems. One thing I do know is that the smaller airlines try a bit harder since they have workers who work more tightly than the big ones with larger crews who don't really work together all the time. I worked at the airport (SFO) for 4 years and saw how much the smaller ones tried to get things done right and how slower the big ones were. It was almost like they didn't care since they knew someone would take care of it if they didn't. I really liked working with the crews from American and Delta.

If Continental is bragging it is just their own opinion. They work the same way as the rest since everything is regulated except your own experience. Just go and find the best rates and prepare for anything.

I don't think Continental is the best. But they have their freedom, and a right to pay for commercials if they so choose...

I'm guessing the other airlines don't want to waste money on advertising in competition with Continental, because it would be just that, a waste.

I don't fly, but there can't be too much of a difference between major airlines.

can't say any thing abut it.I prefer Virgin.at airlines it's not only the traveling that counts but other things which a very handful offer!

They're definitely not the best!

I think the best airlines are either Emirate's or Singapore air.

Air NewZealand is up there also.

I've traveled on American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Delta Airlines, Frontier Airlines, and Continental Airlines...and out of all of those Continental was the best to me because they actually gave us food, as the other airlines just gave us peanuts or pretzels for a 3 hour flight. And the stuardist on Continental were the nicest. And Delta and Southwest were the worst. And the American Airline planes I've been on were always old and pretty much looked like they were falling apart. :/
