How much does it cost the airline to to take luggage per kg?

Im trying to work out how much it costs the airline, not how much it costs me per airline. They must have a figure to know how much to charge for excess baggage.

Whether or not you are able to figure this out, you still have to pay it. Keep things below the company's limit and there is no charge at all!
